During her performance at last week's American Foundation for AIDS Research Inspiration Gala, Katy Perry showed off her soft side. Soft ballad side, that is. She closed the show with a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me," the most heartbreaking song ever to be belted alone while eating a gallon of ice cream (also popular with singing competition contestants).
"This song needs no introduction," she said, by way of introduction; and of course, she's right. Watch below.
Perry also auctioned off a signed guitar for $32,000 and a few little "throw ins" she came up with herself: a date at the West Hollywood gay bar the Abbey, and (maybe) some sex afterwards. The winning bidder, if you're wondering, was New York Giants owner Steve Tisch. Of course, all proceeds went to charity, so if she can't make him love her, she can write it off. [Idolator]
