Since it was announced that Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby would not be released until Spring 2013, there has been speculation that the soundtrack might see some notable additions during the interim (it is a Luhrmann production after all).
Indiewire reports that Adelaide Clemens--who plays Catherine, the younger sister of Tom Buchanan's mistress, Myrtle Wilson--hinted, not-so-subtly, that two big names in the biz have voiced interest in contributing original music to the film. "Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz and are writing songs for the film, and I don't think Warner Bros. are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door." Though she balked a bit, adding "I don't know if I'm allowed to say that."
Whether or not this was a strategic name-drop, it wouldn't be unusual for Luhrmann to include two of the most influential pop artists in his lineup, as he's shown a particular fondness for flamboyant collaborations (his take on LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade, for example).
