If you don't approach life with an open mind in 2012, you're a dinosaur. Hip-Hop is learning that lesson, and there's not many better examples of it than Memphis producer/MC Cities Aviv, who debuts his new Black Pleasure mixtape through Mishka. While last year's Digital Lows captured ears with its soul-sampling foundation, Aviv's new project swings a wide left, venturing down a path of DOOM-esque experimentation which results in screwed vocals, plenty of lo-fi noise and a seriously hard time pigeonholing this as a genre in your iTunes.
Cities Aviv handles a chunk of the production himself, with help coming from RPLDGHSTS, Froskees and Silkky Johnson. Black Pleasure is available to stream and download below.
