Word has been getting around for a couple of months now that there’s a reboot of Beverly Hills Cop in the works, but today we finally get a little more insight into the project. Eddie Murphy, who starred in the original film series and Shield creator Shawn Ryan are working together to bring Beverly Hills Cop to television. Now there’s an actor lined up to take the lead role of Aaron Foley: Tropic Thunder’s Brandon T. Jackson.
The show is set to follow Aaron — the son of Murphy’s Axel Foley in the originals — as he tries to “take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous, while simultaneously trying to escape the shadow of his larger than life father.” There’s no word yet on the rest of the cast, but if the show is meant to be a buddy cop story like the movies, there’s going to need to be a new Judge Reinhold character.
