Watching TV With The Sound Off is the name of Mac Miller’s trip toward psychedelic hip hop. But, not too many hip hoppers know psychedelics as well as Spaceman—the Inner City Kid who was tripping on acid in Aaron Cohen’s music video for “NickVanExelRose.”
In the music video for “Punk Funk,” we see Spaceman rhyming over an upbeat Yuri Beats instrumental while images of flowers dominate the rapper’s background. The prominent shades of purple, yellow, pink, and green give off stimulating imagery reminiscent of America’s Woodstock era.
But, at the end, the viewer is left wondering whether this is real or just a drug-induced fantasy of Spaceman seeing himself on television. Either way, if Spaceman keeps this up we’ll be wanting to watch him on TV with the sound all the way turned up.
