From a plethora of NYC bred rap groups, Ratking sticks out amongst them. From unconventional beats and abrasive, Death Grips-esque production, Ratking, unlike many other NYC rap collectives, don't really embrace the sonic nostalgia of '90s rap.
Following a tour with Death Grips and last year's slept-on Wiki93 EP, Ratking have announced a debut album, So It Goes, via XL's Hot Charity. While the EP will be released April 8, the collective have already shared a track entitled "Canal."
Often labeled as "little kid rap," hopefully these young turks will be able to escape these tropes by working with Jay-Z's longtime producer, Young Guru. He was the producer for The Blueprint after all.
