Will Hermes, a writer for the Rolling Stone, has signed on to write"a full, definitive biography" of the late Lou Reed, who passed away last October. Reed had a successful and influential music career through his solo work and as the front man of The Velevet Underground. The famous saying goes that everyone who bought one of Reed's albums started a band, and after his death his impact was shown with tributes by musicians such as Neil Young, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.
"I think we have yet to fully measure the loss" said Hermes about Reed's passing. "He was one of the greatest artists of our generation," he told the New York Times. The biography is tentatively titled: Lou: A New York Life, and will be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
