LA producer D33J will return on Anticon for the second time this year with new and intriguingly conceptualized EP Gravel. Says the 22-year old himself on the EP, “It was about self-reflection—trying to replicate the feeling of sitting alone after you get home late, still drunk and on drugs.” Putting forth an aesthetic that we would usually ascribe to his Wedidit cohorts Shlohmo or Ryan Hemsworth, lead single “Slow” is a fleeting atmosphere of vocal bends and somber tones/progressions; hardly present percussion to hold all the emotion from spilling over underlines, and its better for it.
