Los Angeles-bred crooner SWEET+TALKER makes the alternative pop music we've grown accustomed to from recent bloomer Jaymes Young, so it's probably a matter of time before the Internet catches on. There's not much known about him, which isn't too surprising - artists like Young, The Weeknd and more have all capitalized off their mystique.
Truly, there's something to be gained off not putting everything out there in the open. The intrigue becomes contagious. We do know that SWEET+TALKER is Kevin Fisher, a California-based singer and producer. He produced his second single, "Here We Go Again" with the help of Colby Wedgeworth.
"Here We Go Again" builds slowly into a gorgeous alt-pop record, with the same heartbreaking R&B influences that Fisher finds soothing. It's the type of piece that alludes to a damaged relationship that resonates well with any audience, reminding us of Mikky Ekko's stellar "Pull Me Down". It's still very early for Fisher, and his songwriting may not be as advanced as Ekko's just yet, but his first two releases are a glimpse of his potential. SWEET+TALKER's first single, "Burn It Up All Night," is a beautiful, glittering track filled with "ooh"'s that you can't help but sing aloud. The song was also produced by ST and Wedgeworth.
Fisher's forthcoming EP has not been issued a release date yet, but hopefully it will be soon. [EARMILK]
