The connotation of the word "Nothankyou", depends on the inflection. Whether you pronounce it demurely or jeeringly, the transatlantic duo delivers multifarious stimulus on their musical collaboration. London-based Tom Vek and Brooklyn resident Olga Bell both have producer/performer/writer credits to their names. With the video for "Oyster", Bell makes her directorial debut. Inspired by photo works of Cindy Sherman and Richard Avedon, 90s Calvin Klein ads, and even Michael Jackson's "Black or White" video, the Russian-born songstress stars as herself, Vek, and more. The sleek, simple, and stylized black and white video is just as engrossing as the intricately composed electro pop track.
"Oyster" is the AA side to Nothankyou's debut single "Know Yourself/Oyster", out now via Moshi Moshi Records on limited edition 7" vinyl and as a digital download.
