On October 30, it will have been 45 years since The Velvet Underground released its influential LP, The Velvet Underground & Nico, and to celebrate, Universal Music Enterprises and Castle Face Records have joined forces to release both the limited edition 45th Anniversary box set (pre-order here) and a special tribute album entitled The Velvet Underground & Nico by Castle Face And Friends (pre-order here).
This record features reimaginations of the originals by bands like Ty Segall ("Femme Fatale"), White Fence ("Run, Run, Run"), The Fresh & Onlys ("All Tomorrow's Parties"), and Thee Oh Sees ("European Son"), among others.
Today, we are excited to premiere Burnt Ones' rendition of the famous "Heroin." The San Francisco-based trio's cover stays true to the original--simplistic, fuzzy, and heart-wrenching.
