The best punk band from Brooklyn-via-Texas in a long time, Parquet Courts have released a new song that is absolutely... well, perfect! Okay, perfect for those of us who already adore the Light Up Gold guys. With this new single, "You've Got Me Wonderin' Now," it's the obvious truth that the band wasn't just one album.
The new EP, announced today via Pitchfork, is titled Tally All the Things That You Broke (out on October 8, tracklisting below), which is pretty much the perfect title for something from this noisy-punky outfit of hilarious dudes with a serious penchant for catchy-as-hell tunes. It's also taken from a lyric in the new song. Even the last twenty seconds of squalling guitar and exuberant insanity is just short of brilliant. If you enjoy this song, there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't check out their absolutely succinct and blissful Light Up Gold.
Elsewhere in Parquet Courts Land, the band has recently released 250 cassettes of a mixtape to fans. On the mixtape, the number (917) 471-2855 is written on and at the very beginning of the tape. Call and give the band a voicemail, because, let's face it, it's cooler to have a voicemail than some tweet. Also on this tape is the new single.
You can pre-order the 12" EP here and read about the tracks in detail on Insound. Apparently there's a "eight-minute stream-of-consciousness rap about the trials and tribulations of a marijuana delivery service representative, zipping around the city on his bike." That sounds like lots of fun.
