Purple Tape 2 is the sequel to the beat tape that Horse Head put out this past April on AMDISCS, a label home to left-field electronic creations of all sorts. For the most part incongruent with any sort of screw vibe potentially anticipated by the naming of his “Purple” mixtape, the Southern Cal producer’s tracks are still similarly in turn down mode and might very well be the soundtrack to your next herbal session. Beats like the opening “Angel,” “Ghosted,” and “Guard Spirit” seem to originate from the clouds above rather than a styrofoam cup in hand, calling for vocal accompaniment from rappers like Main Attrakionz and (sometimes) Deniro Farrar.
