Sub Pop Gets Letter From Fan Unaware Of Kurt Cobain's Death

It seems like at least one Nirvana fan still isn't aware, or is in massive denial, about Kurt Cobain's death.

Sub Pop posted a tweet today, "We received a letter in our mailbag asking Nirvana to send a video to support a campaign bid for homecoming queen." The record label posted a picture of the letter from a Virginia Tech student asking the group to send in a video supporting her in the race for homecoming queen.

According to the letter, Nirvana is asked to send in a short clip of them saying something like, "What’s up Virginia Tech? This is Nirvana! Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday. LET’S GO HOAKIES!" This is obviously a form letter as she lists other non-grunge artists who have contributed to the campaign and even refers to Nirvana as "her" at one point, "It presents great publicity for them, and as Virginia Tech loves Nirvana, we'd love to have her in our video," she writes, "They would be one among artists including Big N Rich, Ying Yang Twins, the Cataracs, Slightly Stoopid, and three famous NFL Players."

Sub Pop stated that they "dressed up and obliged," so we'll have to wait and see what kind of response the label comes up with.

This could simply be a hoax or a publicity stunt. If not, some poor Nirvana fan is about to get some very bad news.
