Any decent DJ or producer can take a bland song and make it at least marginally more interesting through their musical manipulations. Diplo had the difficult task of making an already great dance song, Calvin Harris and Florench Welch's "Sweet Nothing," into something better. Does he do it? In his trapstyle remix of "Sweet Nothing" (grabbed from BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac Show), he shuffles the rhythm, shifting it from straight 4/4 EDM to something more skittery and complex. Diplo doesn't mess with Welch's vocals, either, which is usually the best way to go. The track ends up sounding pure and unexpected—good one, Diplo. [Hypetrak]
