Coconspirator of Brooklyn's indie pop super group The Drums, Jacob Graham has always had a thing for synthesizers and synth pop. And that burgeoning urge to use his instrument of choice has flourished in his new project Cascading Slopes. So while the other members of The Drums have taken some time off to create their own side projects and take some time off from their never ending grueling tours, Graham has taken to what he loves best, his synthesizer.
In the group’s new single "Ornaments of the World," the synthesizers are a beautifully arrangement of bubbling layers of instrumental wonderment. And surrounding that are Graham’s whimsical vocals. The whole song warps you back into a dream world ala The Never Ending Story and in under three minutes, the group has crafted a glorious world of unknown dreams whirling all together effortlessly.
The track will be featured on the band’s upcoming album Towards a Quaker View of Synthesizers which will be released sometime this year.
