The Most Mistake-Filled Movies of 2012: Men In Black III And Skyfall Top The List

The nerds at MovieMistakes have made a business out of publicly shaming filmmakers by documenting every single mistake found in popular movies and television. Some are tiny flubs that only an a-hole would draw attention to (is it really worth mentioning this scene in The Avengers where Thor's thumb mysteriously moves?); others are big fat no-no's that should probably cost the film editing department their pensions (say, for instance, a visible crew member looking out to sea).

Of course, it's 2013 now, which means a clean slate for Hollywood everywhere but on the Internet, where MovieMistakes houses their year-end lists of the most error-filled movies. The top offender of last year was Men in Black III(63 errors), followed by Skyfall (35 errors); The Dark Knight Risesand The Amazing Spider-Mantied for third place with 24 errors respectively.

Here are a few of the best (worst?) mistakes from each film:

Men in Black III

Plot hole: When (future) Agent J and (future) Boris are fighting on top of the large red docking station for the spaceship, Agent J gets shot deliberately by Boris and jumps off the edge of the dock. Then he uses his time travel device to go back in time a few seconds earlier to be able to dodge the shots. There are a few mistakes in this part. 1) There should be another Agent J there too, as he has gone back in time to that moment again, but there isn't. 2) The injuries sustained by Agent J (the bone spikes in his abdomen) should have remained there when he went back in time. If it were true that you healed once you went back in time into the condition you were in at that moment, then Boris should have grown an arm back when he went back in time.

Skyfall

Continuity: When on the motorbike on the rooftops of Istanbul, Bond at first has no sunglasses on, then sunglasses on, then no sunglasses.

Factual error: The pursuit scenes along the train tracks leading west from Istanbul show mountains and even trestles and tunnels which do not exist. The true scenery is quite boring.

The Dark Knight Rises

Visible crew/equipment: When the sewer explodes and the explosion comes up through the manhole surrounded by police officers, the cop nearest to the explosion can be seen wearing some sort of jelly to protect himself from the explosion.

Character mistake: As Bruce Wayne is researching the jewel thief, the word "Heist" is spelled "Hiest" in a newspaper headline.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Continuity: During the scene where Uncle Ben is talking to Peter in Peter's bedroom, on his desk there is a solved Rubik's cube. Uncle Ben picks it up, and twists it slightly. It then suddenly appears on the opposite side of the desk next to Peter, too far away for Ben to have placed it there, fully solved again.
