Say what? Hitfix reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (you may remember him as John "Robin" Blake, from the closing chapter of the Dark Knight trilogy) is rumored to appear as the new caped crusader in Justice League. According to the site, sources have confirmed that Gordon-Levitt "absolutely will be [the] new Batman," but as with any left-field casting claim, it's best to take this kind of information with a grain of salt.
While the final scene of the Dark Knight Rises teased the possibility of a Robin spin-off, it seems that project (if it was even considered a 'project') is on hold, indefinitely. Or maybe Nolan was delivering a big sneaky wink to his audience, as Warner Bros., apparently, is looking to snatch another key player from the Dark Knight team (Film School Rejects speculate that the most obvious candidate is Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox). Here's what we do know: so far, no finished script (though Gangster Squad writer Will Beall is officially on board), no one's been cast, and the movie itself won't even hit theaters until Summer 2015 at the earliest. Calm down, nerds.
For now, eyes and ears are fixed on the upcoming Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel, which will likely set the tone for Justice League.Man of Steel will swoop into theaters June 14, 2013.
