To tide us over as we await the 2014 release of Darren Aronofsky's epic re-telling of Noah's Ark, Indiewire posted one of the short films he made during his masters program at the AFI Conservatory.
Not much has been written about No Time, an oddball assortment of comedy sketches featuring very non-present-day-Aronofsky humor, like a medley of farts, a doomed game of Charades, and a possibly insane fisherman with a unique "fish call." It's pretty amusing; not to mention, the 90s references are out of this world (the giant ankh medallion and the Cat in the Hat hat are particularly painful to see again). The whole thing has a bit of an old-school MTV vibe mixed with something Winona Ryder might have been involved with, had she done absurdist comedy instead of venturing down the ultra-cynical Reality Bites path.
You'll notice in the credits that cinematographer Matthew Libatique, who collaborated with Aronofsky on Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Black Swan, and his latest, Noah, served as "Director of Photography" (he also helmed the camera for Protozoa, another of Aronofsky's early shorts).
