Pixelated, guitar-slinging nutcrackers fold up into kaleidoscope patterns in visuals that might better fit some back-alley noise band than Sufjan's horn-streaked holiday cheer. Nevertheless, this glitchy, web-arty eye-feast seems appropriate enough--especially as Stevens ultimately pitches the carol into a sonic arena of autotune and '80s Casios in a bizarre mashup with "Impossible Soul." We're glad that this producer-turned-folk artist-turned-producer again has settled into a comfortable intersection of the twee and the weird.
