Okay, maybe Fridays should be reserved for blasting party music as loud as that crappy iPod dock will allow to get you in the mood for the night's impending antics (read: drunken shame). That's fair. But when new music arrives from West Coast crooner/producer Terrace Martin, you calm yourself down, pour a glass of Hennessy and change your plans.
Martin's been upping the ante for his new project, 3Chordfold, for some months now, dropping gems like "We Fly" featuring Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion) and Teedra Moses, "S.S.L." with Kendrick Lamar, Problem and A Dabu$iness, and the Dom Kennedy and Punch-assisted "How I Live."
Today Martin reconnects with Top Dawg Ent. brand rep Punch for the charming "It's Real," as produced by hip-hop/soul maestro 9th Wonder. Not only showcasing some melodic rhymes, Martin also lends his impeccable saxophone skills to really add flavor to the rhythm.
