"Wild" (Video)

Today, PitchforkTV premiered Beach House's music video for "Wild" (from their May release, Bloom). The video was shot by veteran director Johan Renck, whose client list includes Madonna, Robbie Williams, New Order, and most recently Lana Del Rey (Renck directed her eerie cover of "Blue Velvet"). Renck's preference for muted palettes and unnerving intimacy works well with the track's angsty themes. "Wild" follows a group of squatters as they engage in reckless tricks--drinking, drugging, fighting, making up/out; the video, though über-depressing, is beautifully shot and feels very voyeuristic as we watch these young people suffer some, survive some, and watch time pass them by. "Wild" is the second track off Beach House's excellent, emotionally intoxicating Bloom. The band is currently touring overseas.
