J. Cole has a thing for anniversaries. Back in September, he gifted a remix of Major Lazer's "Get Free" to celebrate the first birthday of his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, and today, on the two-year anniversary of his previous project, Friday Night Lights, he debuts his brand new single, "Miss America." What Cole calls a "public service announcement," the track is a drum-rolling, riff-grinding slow-burner, which is clearly the formula required to resurface that rugged lyrical beast inside.
It's the first release from his upcoming sophomore album, Born Sinner, which releases Jan. 28—conveniently the same day he turns 28.
