They may already have put out one of their more interesting collaborative experiments this year, but the Flaming Lips weren't done with 2012 just yet. Not content to rest on their Heady Fwends laurels, Wayne Coyne and his fellow psychedelic conjurers rounded up even more buddies from around the world to pay tribute to one of the most iconic prog rock records of all time. By reimagining King Crimson's In the Court of the Crimson King as a dense and energetic psych-rock expedition, Lips and company have supercharged the 1969 classic to fit right into the new millennium.
The band is now streaming Playing Hide and Seek with the Ghosts of Dawn, which takes its title from the lyrics to "Moonchild," via their Satellite Heart Radio station (it seems to be playing in full, but in a slightly jumbled order). The record features guest appearances from New Fumes, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Linear Downfall, and Spaceface.
If you happen to be in Dallas, you can pick up the LP on unique multicolored vinyl at Good Records. The record will see a wider digital release in the unspecified near future, according to the Future Heart.
