Talib Kweli Delays 'Prisoner Of Conscious' To February 2013

With little to no promotion to this point, it should come as no surprise that Talib Kweli's sixth solo album, Prisoner of Conscious, has been delayed. Originally slated for a Nov. 20 release, the LP will now arrive quite a few months later in February 2013. Why, you ask? Because Kweli is dismantling his Blacksmith Records label and moving distribution to his new one.

"No, ['Prisoner of Conscious' is] atually going to be pushed back. It was originally supposed to come out on Blacksmith/EMI/Capitol, it's not longer coming out on EMI/Blacksmith/Capitol. It was my label, we have now dismantled it," the Brooklyn rapper told Power 105's The Breakfast Club. "I have a label called Javotti Media, which I put my last album 'Gutter Rainbows' on, so it's now coming out on Javotti/EMI/Capitol. But in order to make the transition, I pushed it back a couple of months. I'm looking at February."

Kweli has already revealed the tracklist for his new album, which features Busta Rhymes, Miguel, Nelly, Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y—the latter two on the lead single, "Push Thru." You can watch the full Breakfast Club interview below.
