Trent Reznor Tells Rolling Stone Nine Inch Nails Are Working On New Material

Early 2009 was a sad time for Nine Inch Nails fans. Trent Reznor announced a 20th Anniversary Farewell tour, and though the band played some intimate venues like New York's Bowery Ballroom and Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre, it was bittersweet.

"I've been thinking for some time now it's time to make NIN disappear for awhile," Reznor said three years ago. In that time, he has kept himself busy with a new band, How To Destroy Angels; writing music for the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and scoring The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the man behind NIN admitted that the band is working on new material. "Yeah, there will be new music," he said. "There are some things in the works," adding that if it feels right, touring is also a possibility.

"I never said that that wasn't going to happen, just that it couldn't go on as it was," he explained. "Having a few years doing other things, I've enjoyed [them] and I'm enjoying doing How To Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It's a different kind of work. Stay tuned."

In the meantime, fans can look forward to How To Destroy Angels' upcoming An Omen EP, which is slated for a November 13 release, with a full-length to follow.
