Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai has a reputation as a talented director. However, most of his movies are known for their understatement and powerful, though subtle, emotions. Characters in his films often communicate most deeply with what they don't say, rather than what they do. This is evident in pictures like Chunking Express, In The Mood For Love and 2046.
However, his latest film seems to be a bit of a departure. According to IndieWire, The Grandmasters focuses on martial art teacher Yip Man, who lay much of the foundation for traditional martial arts study and who groomed many famous martial artists, including Bruce Lee.
