There have been a lot of headlines coming out of the Sochi Olympics, which are taking place in Russia right now. Triumphs, failures, moments of joy and disappointment all characterize the Olympics, along with attention being put on athletes that don't usually get the spotlight. The host country is also under a magnifying glass, issues have been well documented and many people have spoken out against Sochi, Russia, and their President, Vladimir Putin.
One of the most vocal against Putin has been the Russian punk rock group, Pussy Riot. In 2012, two of the members of the all female band were arrested and charged with hooliganism and were subsequently sentenced to two years in prison.
Now that the Olympics are in their home country, the band is once again making headlines. First, Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, the two members of the band that had spent time in jail, were once again arrested, this time for theft, right before they could stage a live performance in Sochi. After spending a few hours in prison before being released, the next day the band went through with their performance, which led to them being attacked and whipped by Cossack militia.
A day later, the band has released a music video and song, titled "Putin Will Teach You How To Love." The video contains raw footage of members of the band going through Sochi, being beaten, dancing with Olympic mascots and singing in front of the Olympic Rings. All in a days work.
