Utilizing the Japanese anime film Robotech: Do You Remember Love? as his main influence, rapper-singer Vulkan The Krusader has crafted his newest (and probably most polished) project thus far. On VX-13, we find the ambient/atmospheric production the rapper tends to be drawn towards. But, instead of rapping the entire time, Vulkan mixes things up a bit with the vocals he used on the Robbie Darko EP which dropped in August of last year. This allows for Vulkan to delve into the various emotions appearing on this album.
All in all, the project is very cohesive with its main focus being the various forms of love. Tracks like “Echo Chamber” deals with the anger of heartbreak while “Do You Remember Love?” celebrates those people who love us unconditionally. But, the entire album doesn’t stay on one theme alone. The posse-cut banger “Winter Is Coming” (which features OG Che$$ and Spaceman of the Inner City Kids) as well as “Kiss Of Death” and “Black Diamonds”, bring up the hype level to explosive highs.
