Devo Founding Member Bob Casale Passes Away At 61

One of the remaining of a dying breed has passed away, Bob Casale one of the founding members of post-art-punk band Devo died at age 61 on February 17, 2014. The iconic group is best known for their hit “Whip It” which came off their album Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! which was produced by Brian Eno. The single had reached no. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980.

His brother Gerald Casale stated:

"As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning. He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got. He was excited about the possibility of Mark Mothersbaugh allowing Devo to play shows again. His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all."

Gerald Casale had confirmed that Bob Casale had died of a heart failure.
