Probably one of the most momentous and seminal moments in their career, the Beatles' performance at the Ed Sullivan Show has solidified itself into pop and music history.
Serving as their debut performance, the Ed Sullivan Show was lit up across TV screens all over America, turning in a whopping 73 million home viewers- an unprecedented record at that time.
As the story goes, Ed Sullivan first caught eye of the Liverpool band when he noticed hordes of fans waiting for the band's arrival at London's Heathrow airport following their trip to Stockholm. Apparently Sullivan made a steal as he booked the British band for only $10,000.
While the official anniversary has yet to occur, two days from now on February 9 at 8 PM, it will be the official anniversary of the Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Performing a quick set of songs, the Beatles played "All My Loving," "Till There Was You," and "She Loves You," while closing the show with "I Saw Her Standing There," and "I Want To Hold Your Hand."
