It has been widely reported that New York rapper DMX will be going head-to-head in a boxing match against George Zimmerman, a man who was famously acquitted on charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter involving a 17-year-old African American, Trayvon Martin. The rumours started when TMZ reported that DMX had been selected from over 15,000 applicants to fight Zimmerman in a celebrity boxing match.
DMX didn't help the rumours either. With statements like "I'm going to beat the living f**k out of him" and "once I'm done with him, I'm going to whip out my d**k out and piss on him" it seemed pretty clear that this fight was happening, but DMX's publicist has shed some new light on the story.
Yesterday, Domenick Nati, DMX's publicist, released a statement saying: "The boxing match between George Zimmerman and DMX is not officially confirmed. DMX has promised to 'beat his ass,' but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet. DMX will release an official statement if and when an agreement is made."
In an interview with ABC 13 today, Nati reiterated that nothing was official yet. "This went from literally a reporter asking [DMX], 'Would you do this? And what would you do if you were in the situation?' And DMX fans know that he gets excited and shoots his mouth off."
