Depending on how you felt about the Star Wars prequel trilogy that came out between 1999 and 2005, the latest news from The Hollywood Reporter may make you jump for joy -- or it will make you nauseous.
According to that news source, The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will buy LucasFilm for just over $4 billion. This is groundbreaking news, as it it's one of the larger acquisitions Disney has made in recent years and signals a large shift of talent and intellectual property to the entertainment conglomerate.
However, the biggest part of the story might be that the same press release announced the release of another Star Wars theatrical movie by 2015. Presumably, it will take place after the original 1977-1983 trilogy, although details have not yet been made public.
If you're upset about this development, there's one small silver lining: George Lucas will not be directing the latest installment. Rather, he'll be on board as a creative consultant and will therefore not be able to influence the film, for better or for worse, as much as he did the prequel trilogy that has divided so many fans of the series.
