The influential indie group Built To Spill have covered what is possibly Bob Dylan's most popular 80's track, which was featured on Infidels back in 1983. Built To Spill's version strays away from the reggae-derived organ piece and puts in some slashing, anthemic guitars, matched with uplifting vocals. The Idahoan group flies through Dylan's composition with grace and success, transforming a song into a better form after 30 years.
This also comes with a bit of news - this cover is featured on a compilation of other Dylan 80's covers, featuring Langhorn Slim, Reggie Watts, Deer Tick, and even Bonnie "Prince Billy on one track. Simply titled Bob Dylan in the 80's, Volume One, let's hope these artists take these otherwise overlooked and sometimes not-so-great Dylan tracks and shine a new light on them. The compilation will drop on March 25. [Consequence of Sound]
