The Hold Steady will be releasing their sixth studio LP, titled Teeth Dreams, in March, their first since 2010's Heaven is Whenever. Today we're getting the first taste of that album with "I Hope This Whole Thing Didn't Frighten You" streaming at Rolling Stone.
Singer Craig Finn says of the record, "We were looking to make a big rock record." It sounds that way on this track. The Hold Steady were never shy of just being a rock 'n roll band in an era were that was un-cool. Yet somehow this sounds like they've become even more rock 'n roll. It sounds more clear that they grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen and Thin Lizzy. Did it always sound like that? Yeah, probably. But you'll understand when you hear the track.
The band will also be releasing an EP titled RAGS later this year. Teeth Dreams is out on March 25 via Washington Square Records.
