Beats Music recently announced their new music streaming service on January 31 led by a team of music industry moguls: Trent Reznor, Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine, and Luke Wood. The announcement immediately set off some competition amongst other music subscription services including Spotify, Rdio, and Pandora.
Possibly in response to the announcement, Spotify has now introduced unlimited free music just days before Beats Music subscription service launch. After a large fundraising round in November, Spotify has been doing well in regards to funds and competing with other competitors. Before, Spotify only alloted a certain amount of hours a month after a 6-month trial period, but now has removed all time restrictions.
But perhaps with a massive marketing campaign that includes Ellen DeGeneres, deals with AT&T, and advertisement during the Super Bowl, Beats Music will still be able to attract more users. In comparison to Spotify and other subscription music services, Beats Music is different in that it offers customized features based on your personal, musical preferences.
