Housing the lucrative disco movement during the late '70s, Studio 54 was undoubtedly one of the hottest and glamorous nightclubs in all of the U.S. With some of their clientele being Hollywood A-listers, anyone from Andy Warhol, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson or Diana Ross could be seen on any given night.
During the club's most popular years, in 1978 60 Minutes documented Studio 54's role in the disco movement and how unlike traditional music artists, disco artists sidestepped FM radio play to still rack up nearly billions of dollars. While the report deals more with business affairs, it's still a nostalgic outlook to one of popular culture's most astonishing music crazes. The footage is great too, featuring a dapper Dan Rather, a step by step breakdown of an overdub session of Peter Brown's "Dance With Me," and more. View the video below.
