Some artists like Whitney Houston and Beyoncé surpass expectations and deliver truly epic interpretations that inspire players and audiences, while others miss the mark. Who can forget Christina Aguilera's 2011 Super Bowl performance, or Josh Groban and Flea's scattered collaboration?
Zooey Deschanel, star of The New Girl and lead singer of indie-folk band She & Him, on the other hand, performed honorably and gave a true rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that was neither audacious nor insulting at Game 3 of the World Series between Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants.
