On May 26, 2014, The Palace Theatre in New York City will begin previewing Holler If Ya Hear Me, which is "a new musical inspired by the lyrics of Tupac Shakur." The play was first reported in 2012, but it now seems that things have picked up with Shakur's mother as one of the producers and director Kenny Leon at the helm. The official synopsis of the play, which is found on the musicals website, says:
The world inside Tupac Shakur's music and lyrics, blazes to life in a non- biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope. Inner city lives struggle for peace against the daily challenges they face in this entertaining original musical. Through the poetry of one of the 20th century's most influential and culturally prominent, we are given a window into the realities of the streets still relevant today.
