Friendly Fires member Ed Macfarlane has been keeping busy. In his most recent outing, he was featured on a track by one of 2013’s biggest dance acts. He lent his vocals on Disclosure’s “Defeated No More” from their debut and Mercury Prize winning album Settle. He continued that solo fire by releasing a brand new single titled “Yoko’s Song.” The instrumental song written for Yoko, a Friendly Fires fan that had passed away in a road accident is a haunting and chilling track that really paints the sorrow that Macfarlane had felt. More than a fan, Yoko was a friend. The song’s hypnotic beats laced with chilling synths surround your senses with what Macfarlane had felt when writing the song for Yoko.
The track is now available from MANE∇, a new record label started by Teej – a British DJ/producer. It is the first of many upcoming free digital singles.
