Christmas is here again.
To kick off his 12 Days of Christmas series, Boston rapper Michael Christmas has released “Jackie Brown,” a song which features fellow Boston singer Manu Manzo. The combination of Christmas’s whimsical lyricism and Manzo’s sensuous and jazzy vocals creates a light-hearted hip hop song which—with the exception of a few curse words— nearly sounds family-friendly.
And the visuals add to the uplifting vibes the audio succeeds at so gracefully. You’ll laugh out loud when Michael Chirstmas is caught snapping a selfie. And when you see Michael Christmas hanging out with his adorable little sister, it serves up an “awww” moment. Yeah, it will definitely make even the toughest person feel a bit soft, but in a time where not too many rappers are willing to show this side, it feels different. Michael Christmas is proving to be very clever both as a character and as an artist.
Be on the look out for his new LP Is This Art? coming before year’s end (…maybe even on Christmas day).
