Twenty-five years after a band's album has been released, they have the opportunity to be voted for and then inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1989 Seattle grunge rockers Nirvana released their album Bleach on Sub Pop, which makes next year its twenty-fith year. Without a doubt, the committee chose to nominate and then induct the band without hesitation. This will align them with KISS, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, Linda Rondstadt, and Peter Gabriel.
But then what does that say for those who were nominated but not inducted such as Chic (who features the resurged Nile Rodgers, Yes and Deep Purple. Did the popularity of Nirvana sway the committee?
The ceremony will take place on April 14, 2014 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
