"Blue Mountain State" (Prod. FRIENDZONE)

Prefix was first introduced to the Bronx rapper Corduroy with his track “The Foxes,” a song inspired by new Top Dawg Entertainment signee SZA. The song was a good example of the continuing dark trend going on in contemporary hip hop due in large part to artists such as Yeezus-era Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Ibn Inglor

To counterbalance the dark production on “The Foxes,” Corduroy has returned with an entirely lighter track. “Blue Mountain State” is produced by Prefix favorite FRIENDZONE (known mostly for producing ASAP Rocky’s “Fashion Killa”).  The track—named after the Spike TV series—sounds like a college boy’s laid back drunken confession.  Admitting the idea came from a night of drinking at his cousin’s loft, Corduroy compliments FRIENDZONE’s dreamy production with bars about the stereotypical American university lifestyle and his love for the actress Emma Stone.

Look out for his new mixtape Movie Night coming soon. You can follow Corduroy on Twitter @ogcorduroy
