Pat Thomas, the bass player and one of the songwriters for San Francisco's Cool Ghouls, must have more energy than he knows what to do with. The lanky musician just wrapped recording the second album with the zesty garage rock band, only a year after their self-titled debut LP. And now Thomas has almost 19-minutes of limb-swinging jams all set to release on November 26. Recorded by Sonny Smith, the six-track piece, Coasters Riding In The Air, is an ornate, modern take on the psych-garage with a glitter of soul and jazz. Thomas plays everything on the album, with the help from Ryan Wong and Richard Harkins on saxophone and trombone.
Coasters Riding in the Air will see a limited label-only release on November 26 (worldwide December 3) as a digital download via Empty Cellar and in cassette format from Burger Records. Today, we have the premiere of "Not Right Now" - a swaggering and shimmering carefree organic rock dripping with the blithe California sunshine.
