The word, fusion, literally has become synonymous with the current world. The young L.A. duo under the moniker of De Lux, blends multifarious genres to produce a sound with a lineage traceable to eighties-ish bands like Talking Heads to Human League, and more contemporary acts like Franz Ferdinand and Cut Copy. Their entry into the market is an amalgamation forged between auto and music manufacturers. The automobile brand, Scion, part of the Toyota empire, has always had the youth as their target. While corporate backings for musicians open up a myriad of discussions, in the end, we all have to survive. In an age when music sales is at its all-time low, nice to know there are modern-day patrons such as Scion Audio Visual exists, as an option. Thankfully, their predilection is laudable in the case of De Lux's addictive single, "Better At Making Time".
De Lux's debut EP will be released on November 19 as a free download and in tangible forms (CD/LP) on December 10. Look for the full-length in early 2014 on Innovative Leisure.
