No joke - the French house duo have remixed one of the biggest indie hits of the 2000's - Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out.' Catching the attention of Alex Kapranos, his reaction pretty much sums it up:
"I always love getting a remix back because I’m fascinated by what people do with a song. Sometimes you get something back and it's completely unrecognizable, and sometimes you get it back like this! It's pretty much identical!"
He continued:
"I guess it was a bit of a nod from the Daft Punk guys to say: 'Ach, you got it more or less right.'"
The remix is pretty much identical, but adds a few layers of instrumentation - including fuzzy distortion, the reprising guitar riff, and a few other slight niches that anyone who knows the song well enough can spot. Daft Punk's remix is highly light, considering your normal remix is changing the song incredibly radically and maintaining a small amount of original content. But, even if it is light, the remix is something to hear for a Daft Punk fan or a Franz Ferdinand fan - catch-all for a lot of music lovers. [Rolling Stone]
