"Bullied Days," the second release from Brendan Canning's upcoming album You Gots 2 Chill, floats along with delicate strings, tidy textures, and Snowblink's Daniela Gesundheit's whisper-soft vocals. The track promises an album that lives up to its name, yet much more.
They say there's something in the water up there in Canada, and certainly an unfairly high concentration in Toronto, home to the rest of the Broken Social Scene offshoots (Leslie Feist, Emily Haines, Kevin Drew, Amy Millan) and a galaxy of other gifted indie stars.
The album, home-produced from top to bottom by Canning, will be released through his own Draper Street Records on Oct. 1.
