We were excited to announce that Kendrick Lamar's debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, is projected to sell over 200,000 copies during its first week, but he ain't got nothin' on Taylor Swift.
The pop-country singer released her new album, Red, yesterday, and in its first day of release, it sold a whopping 500,000 copies! At this rate, T-Swift is not only slated to sell over one million copies during her release week, but she is also expected to beat Mumford & Sons' first-week iTunes sales record for 2012 (around 390,000 units).
If she does, in fact, sell copies in the seven-digit area, she will become the first female artist in the Neilsen SoundScan era (1991 to present) to have a pair of albums sell more than a million units in a single week. [Billboard]
We're slowly understanding why Kanye so rudely interrupted her during that infamous award speech...he's jealous!
