The renowned Barclaycard Mercury Prize, honoring contemporary British and Irish musicians, may be handed to David Bowie for his 2013 realease, "The Next Day". The official list of finalists will be announced Oct. 30. Chosen from over 200 albums submitted by varoius record labels are otherwise non-household names including Savages, Foals, Rudimentals, James Blake, and Villagers. With 66 years and forty-ish of them recording music, Bowie is still active and relevant in the music scene (see: "Falling Down", an embarrassing collaboration with Scarlett Johannson, and, the more sensible, "Wake Up" with Arcade Fire). He would be the oldest person to win the prize.
