Deerhunter's frontman, Bradford Cox, has decked the feminine garb in the Monomania era on late night TV and on stage. But in the video for "Back To The Middle", Durassie Kiangangu assumes the singer's alter ego, recalling the glamour of a sixties Motown songstress. Directed by Olivier Groulx, the upbeat, soulful, and warm 8-track recording is accentuated by the filmic softness. Yet there is an underlying poignancy imploring empathy - a certain echo of Cox's sentience.
